Carjacking Suspect Arrested After Drone Discovers Hiding Spot: Laurel Police

Laurel Police say the suspect who attempted to carjack a woman in broad daylight then gave chase was found with a drone.

LAUREL, MD — A Silver Spring man has been arrested after Laurel Police say he attempted to carjack a woman's vehicle then took off running from officers.

The incident happened Sept. 17, according to Laurel Police. The woman was carjacked during the day by the man who grabbed her keys. Police officers called to the scene found the man who then took off running.

Officers gave chase and the police department's drone team sent up a drone to track the suspect from above.

"That coordinated response led to the swift arrest of a dangerous suspect," the police department stated.

Alex Skinner Abramson, 34, of Silver Spring was arrested and charged with attempted carjacking, theft, resisting arrest and other related charges.
