Child Abuse Victim Dies 10 Years After Abuse: Prince George's County Police
A child abuse victim from Bowie died from a head injury ten years after the abuse, police announced Friday.

Elanis Milfort, 10, was a six-month-old baby when she suffered a head injury in a child abuse case in 2006.
Detectives arrested her father, Lionel Milfort, and charged him with child abuse. He was released from prison in June of 2014, police said.

In March of 2016, the victim underwent surgery to treat a spinal condition that was a result of the head trauma in 2006. She suffered complications and passed away three days after surgery.
At the end of June, 2017, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia ruled the death a homicide, police said. The Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office will determine whether any additional charges will be filed in this case.
