Child Dies After 4-Vehicle I-95 Pileup in PG County: Police

A disabled car on the interstate caused a deadly collision in Laurel Tuesday night.

LAUREL, MD — A four-vehicle collision caused by a disabled car on Interstate 95 resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy and life-threatening injuries to a woman.

Maryland State Police received a report of a disabled vehicle in the roadway of northbound I-95 near Route 200 in Laurel at around 9 p.m. on Dec. 13. As troopers were headed to the scene, there was a major crash involving four vehicles, according to a report from MSP.

Police say a Honda Pilot was disabled in the roadway when a Dodge Caravan that was approaching the Honda was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer. A Volkswagen was also struck in the collision, according to the report.

The crash killed a 13-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the Dodge. It also resulted in life-threatening injuries to 45-year-old Tamara Moskowitz of Baltimore, who was the driver of the Dodge. She was transported to Medstar in Washington, D.C.

The driver of the Honda, 58-year-old Maria Chryssos of Texas and the passenger, 35-year-old Anastacia Chryssos of Perry Hall, Md. were sent to Prince George's Hospital Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The driver of the Volkswagen, 53-year-old Linda Perline of Glenwood, Md., was not injured. There was no indication on any injuries to the tractor-trailer driver.

MSP is investigating the collision. There is no sign of impairment of any of the drivers. The crash shut down northbound I-95 for about five hours.

Police asked anyone with information on the crash to contact them.
