Christmas 2017 In PG County: What's Open, What's Closed

We've put together a handy guide of what's going to be open and closed in Prince George's County this holiday season.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, VA -- Christmas is right around the corner, and so is New Year's, which means it is officially the most confusing time of year when it comes to what's open and what's closed.

Not to worry, however: we've created a handy list of what's open, what's closed this holiday season in Prince George's County County.

Government offices: Government offices will be open for a half day on Dec. 22, and all day on Christmas Day as well as Dec. 26 (in lieu of Christmas Eve). They will also be closed Monday, Jan. 1.

Schools: The Winter Break lasts from Dec. 25 through Jan. 1, with schools reconvening on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Libraries: Libraries will be closed Sunday, Dec. 24 through Tuesday, Dec. 26, and from Sunday, Dec. 31 through Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Metro: "On Saturday, December 23, and Sunday, December 24, most Metrorail lines will run on a regular weekend schedule," WMATA said in a statement. "The only exception is the Red Line, where trains will run every 8-15 minutes as Metro's leak-mitigation project continues. Trains on the Orange, Blue, Silver, Green, and Yellow lines will operate on regular weekend schedules with no scheduled track work. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Metrorail system will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 11:00 p.m. Trains will operate on a Sunday schedule both days."

The Prince George's County Department of the Environment (DoE) has announced the following hours:

"TheBus, a public transit service operated by the Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, will not operate on Monday, December 25, 2017," the county said in a statement. "Regular operations of TheBus will resume on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. In addition, the County’s Call-A-Bus service will not operate on Monday, December 25, 2017. Regular operations of the Call-A-Bus services will also resume on Tuesday, December 26, 2017."
