City Mural Takes Shape Starting July 18 With Unveiling July 22

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The public art project slated for Bowie City Gym will begin July 18. The 22-foot-tall mural will be painted by contemporary muralist Desiree Kelly and is expected to take several days to complete.

The mural will depict Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and youth. Kelly will host a Chat with the Artist July 20 at 5 p.m. during which time the community can ask questions about her vision, process and experience.

The mural will be unveiled July 22 at 10 a.m.

Both the Chat with the Artist and mural unveiling will be open to the public and free. They'll take place at the Bowie City Gymnasium, 4100 Northview Dr.
