A Clinton couple died Sunday afternoon after their car was hit by a vehicle whose driver allegedly tried to pass vehicles that had slowed to allow the victims’ car to turn.

The driver of the second vehicle – whose identity has not been released by police -- suffered minor injuries.

Investigators say the vehicle with the two deceased victims had just turned right onto Kirby Road from Tinkers Creek Drive when it was struck by the second vehicle. That vehicle was westbound on Kirby Road, police say, when it crossed the center line to pass two cars that had slowed down to let the victims’ car turn onto Kirby Road.
