Coronavirus Cases Near 18,000 In Prince George's County

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The coronavirus death toll has reached 637 in Prince George's County, the Maryland Department of Health reported Monday. The county has registered 17,935 cases of the virus.
More than 9 million people around the world have been infected by coronavirus. Global deaths from the virus total more than 469,000, according to Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, almost 2.3 million people have been infected and more than 120,000 people have died from coronavirus.
Prince George's County still has the most confirmed coronavirus cases in the state, according to the latest data from the Maryland Department of Health. Montgomery County has the second most, with a total of 14,141 positive cases. Montgomery County, however, has more coronavirus-related deaths than Prince George's County with 683 deaths as of Monday morning.

The CDC advises doing the following to stop the spread of the virus:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If this is not available, use hand sanitizer that is at least 60 percent alcohol.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Keep 6 feet of space between people.
- Stay home.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
