Deep Freeze in Forecast this Week

Mild weekend temperatures are going to drop fast in the work week, reaching dangerous wind chills by midweek. See the regional forecast.

If you haven’t shopped for that heavy winter coat yet, now is the time.

Almost pleasant temperatures Sunday are expected to drop swiftly as we get into the week, according to the National Weather Service. By the time children are getting out to the bus stop on Thursday morning, the wind chill will make it feel like 2 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 34 degrees Sunday night. Highs through Tuesday will only reach 36 degrees, with a 30 percent chance of snow Tuesday. On Wednesday, the high will be just 27 degrees.

Wednesday night, the low drops to 12 degrees, but the wind chill will make it feel like 1 degree, according to the NWS.

Thursday’s high will be 23 degrees, but the wind chill will stay in the single digest until noon and only reach 15 degrees. Friday will be slightly warmer, but the winds won’t die down until mid-day Saturday.
