Driver Dies Behind Wheel in Landover Crash: Police
Maryland State Police say a 22-year-old man died because of a medical problem, not from crash injuries suffered late Sunday.

LANDOVER, MD — Maryland State Police say a 22-year-old man died while driving on Route 50 just before midnight in Prince George’s County.
Police were called at 11 p.m. Sunday to a one-car crash on eastbound Route 50 West of Lottsford Vista Road in Landover. A Hyundai Sonata was found on the left shoulder.
Investigators say the driver/victim experienced a medical emergency and as a result, collided with the jersey wall on the left side of the road. The 22-year-old driver was taken to the Prince George’s Hospital, where he died.

Authorities have not released the name of the driver who died.
State Police believe that the driver died a result of the medical emergency, not the collision. A passenger in the front seat was not injured.

There was no indication of impairment; roads were wet at the time of the crash. This portion of the collision is still under investigation.
The Maryland State Police conducted the detailed crash reconstruction. The exact cause of the collision has not been determined at this time. One lane was blocked Monday morning as a result of this collision, but re-opened within two hours.
