Driver Hits Gas Pedal, Knocks Hole in House: Report

Prince George's County emergency officials say there were no serious injuries in the mishap; the residents were not home at the time.

A Lanham house had a hole punched through it when a driver failed to hit his brakes Monday, but no injuries were reported in the mishap.

Prince George’s County firefighters were called to the 6900 block of Heidelberg Road in Lanham Monday afternoon.

Spokesman Mark Brady told WTOP that the driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, and his car slammed into the house. No one was home at the time.

Medics checked the driver out at the scene and said he likely didn’t require a trip to the hospital.

The driver also clipped a parked car before his vehicle struck the house, police say.

Authorities haven’t released the driver’s name, or said if charges will be field. No damage estimate has been given.
