Fugitive Drunk Driver Captured Who Killed Five (Update)
A DC man who caused a PG County crash that killed three women and two children failed to show for sentencing; he was caught late Monday.
(Updated at 11:59 p.m. Monday) UPPER MARLBORO, MD — A Washington, D.C., man who was the subject of a manhunt has been caught after he failed to show up in court Friday for his sentencing; he had pleaded guilty to 28 charges ranging from manslaughter to DUI for causing a crash that killed five people, including two children. Kenneth Kelley was sought by DC area law officials after missing the court appearance, and the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office tweeted about 9 p.m. Monday that Kelley was captured.
The department released no other details on the fugitive's capture, and said officials will release more information on Tuesday.
Kelley pleaded guilty in March to the charges, which stem from an Oct. 10, 2014, car crash that killed Typhani Wilkerson, 32, Tameika Curtis, 34, and two children in one vehicle, while Dominique Green, 21, a passenger in Kelley’s vehicle, also died.

Police say Kelley was drunk when his vehicle -- traveling at about 70 miles per hour --slammed into the back of the victims’ vehicle. Kelley’s blood alcohol level was .14 at the time of the crash, WJLA reports.
Curtis and Wilkerson were sisters and the mothers of Hassan Boykin, 1, and Khadiua Ba, 13, who both died in the crash. NBC Washington says Curtis was a mother of eight, the youngest of whom was just 6 weeks old at the time of the crash. Wilkerson had two toddlers.

Kelley had been released on $100,000 bond after his plea on the charges, including five counts of negligent manslaughter, although the state's attorney's office asked to keep him in jail. A GPS monitor Kelley was outfitted with was removed before his sentencing, which prosecutors said should not have happened. The monitor's removal is an apparent violation of a court order, NBC says.
An arrest warrant was issued for Kelley, who faces 50 years in prison.
