Higher Levels Of E. Coli Prompts Postponement Of First Annual Anacostia River Splash

Organizers of the First Annual Anacostia River Splash bumped out the event due to higher levels of E. coli detected in the water.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Due to high levels of E. coli in the Anacostia River, the First Annual Anacostia River Splash has been postponed.

The event was scheduled for June 29, but has been bumped out to July 13, according to Anacostia Riverkeeper. Recent weather prompted the event organizer to take additional water samples Friday and determined the water wasn't safe enough for the event.

The event is designed to showcase how water quality has improved.
