Edgewater Woman Charged With Embezzling Over $100K
She was arrested on Thursday with the charge of embezzling over $100,000.

BOWIE, MD -- An Edgewater woman was arrested on Thursday on charged with embezzling at least $100,000 from a Bowie swim club, the Bowie Blade reported. She worked at the club as the treasurer.
Stefanie Schneider, 46, was treasurer for the Belair Bath and Tennis Club until last summer when she resigned. The resignation followed "tens of thousands" of dollars being misused and squandered, the Blade said.
Schneider was indicted by a Prince George's County grand jury on Monday on one count of theft greater than $100,000. "I think she knew we were on to her a while ago," Bowie police Sgt. Martin Rodriguez said, according to the Blade.

Schneider was taken to the county Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro.
Bowie Mayor G. Frederick Robinson, a member of the club, said "It's been a long time in the process so we'll just wait and see how it proceeds now."
