Elderly Grandmother Killed, Daughter And Granddaughter Charged In Her Death: Police

A 71-year-old grandmother has been found dead in her home. Her daughter and granddaughter face charges, according to Prince George's Police.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A grandmother is dead and her daughter and granddaughter have been charged in connection with the homicide.

On June 2 shortly after 1:30 p.m., Prince George's County police officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Hill Road for a welfare check. The man who contacted police said he had not been able to reach 71-year-old Margaret Craig of Landover for several days and "was worried for her welfare," according to police.

Candace Craig, 44, answered the door at Margaret Craig's home and allowed officers in to search for her. When they entered the basement, they immediately smelled the odor of a body decomposing, police said.
