BOWIE, MD — Residents reported several explosions in Bowie on Monday night, an incident report said. Fire officials explained that the booms came from propane tanks that exploded at a nursery on Queen Anne Road. The associated blaze caused about $75,000 in damage, the report added.
First responders arrived to heavy fire coming from an outbuilding used for potting plants, a tweet noted. Firefighters wrote that they extinguished the flames and secured other combustible items at the nursery. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department assisted the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department's response.
Officials do not yet know the cause of the fire. An investigation is underway. It is not clear whether the explosions started the fire or the booms happened during the blaze.
