BOWIE, MD — A 15-year-old boy took a loaded gun to Bowie High School Tuesday. In response, there was a heightened police presence at school Wednesday.

According to Bowie Police, the gun was found around 12:30 p.m. in the student's possession. The gun was a black and tan 9 mm ghost gun with a 30-round extended magazine. Police said no injuries were reported and no further threat was detected.

Prince George’s County Public Schools spokeswoman Meghan Gebreselassie told The Washington Post that the student entered the school improperly through a back door that had been propped open. He was searched by school security, according to a letter sent by Bowie High School Joe Kautzer to the high school’s families.
