Fire Destroys PG County Playground: Officials

GREENBELT, MD -- A community playground in Greenbelt has been destroyed by a fire of an "undetermined cause," authorities say.

Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady tweeted Monday night that a fire in the 5800 block of Cherrywood Lane at 2:10 p.m. caused $20,000 in damages.

The rubberized material base combined with winds "led to rapid fire extension," Brady said.

No one was injured. Brady asked that anyone with information the cause contact 301-77-ARSON.
