Firefighters Battle 2 Separate Blazes

Prince George's firefighters battled two fires this past weekend, included one at a detached garage and another at a mixed-use building.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Crews battled two separate fires this past weekend, damaging a mixed-use building and a detached garage.

Firefighters were called to a two-story building Saturday around 2:40 p.m., which was located in the 5100 block of Annapolis Road in Bladensburg. They encountered "excessive storage conditions" with smoke and fire coming out of the basement. They were able to extinguish the fire and no injuries were reported, according to the county fire and EMS department.

On Friday, crews headed to a home located in the 6000 block of Griffith Drive near Morningside shortly after 7 p.m. for a fire in a detached garage. That fire was extinguished without injuries and without spreading to the nearby home, the fire and EMS department reported.
