Flames Engulf Church in Capitol Heights [VIDEO]
A fire at Capitol Heights Church caused "significant damage" on Thursday.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD — Firefighters battled intense flames at a church that caught on fire in Prince George's County on Thursday.
Emergency personnel responded to the 5900 block of Addison Road at around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday to reports of smoke coming from Capitol Heights Church, according to a report from Prince George's County Fire/EMS spokesman Mark Brady. Video of the scene is below.
Firefighters searched the building for occupants, and upon finding no one, searched for the fire in the basement. Investigators think the fire started near a wall unit space heater in the basement, and the flames then extended to the first floor.

Firefighters had to remove walls and the ceiling to expose the fire and put it out. A total of 55 firefighters and medics responded.
No injuries were reported. It took about 50 minutes to extinguish the fire.
