Friday's Football Game At Oxon Hill HS Postponed After Body Found Near School: Police

Oxon Hill High School's football game was postponed Friday after a man was found fatally shot near the school, police say.

OXON HILL, MD — The Oxon Hill High School football game originally scheduled for Friday against High Point High School was postponed after a man was found shot to death near the school, which is located at 6701 Leyte Drive.

Officers from the Prince George's County Police Department were called to an Oxon Hill neighborhood Friday after receiving a call about shots fired. When they arrived in the 6800 block of Haven Avenue around 5:45 p.m., they found a man fatally shot inside a car. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An unidentified witness told FOX5 they saw at least three people in a car, including one teenager, possibly more. The driver of that vehicle lost control and crashed into a parked car on Haven Avenue. Someone inside the car shot another person inside the vehicle, the witness told FOX5. The other two people who were in the car took off running, the witness said. The incident remains under investigation.
