Friend Charged with Manslaughter in Hyattsville Death: Police

Prince George's County Police have charged an 18-year-old with manslaughter after a gun he handled fatally wounded a man in Hyattsville.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — A Hyattsville man who was driven to a hospital by friends died Thursday night from gunshot wounds and police have charged a friend with manslaughter in the death.

Prince George's County Police say Eulises Alvarado-Reyes, 21, of Hamilton Street died after 11 p.m. Thursday at an area hospital. The suspect in custody is Henry Reyes, 18, of the 5700 block of Gallatin Street. The shooting reportedly happened in the 5000 block of 56th Place, an unincorporated part of Hyattsville.

Patrol officers were called to the hospital to investigate the circumstances surrounding the walk-in shooting victim. Alvarado-Reyes was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the hospital.

Investigators say after Alvarado-Reyes was shot, witnesses drove him to the hospital. It appears the suspect was handling a weapon which fired and struck the victim.

Henry Reyes is charged with manslaughter and a weapons charge.
