Group Home Caretaker Stabbed To Death; Suspect In Custody
Prince George's County Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a group home caretaker in the Mitchellville area.

MITCHELLVILLE, MD — Homicide detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing of a group home caretaker that took place Sunday in the Mitchellville area, according to a police release. PGPD identified the victim as Idowu Ipaye, 44, of Fredrick.
Around 9:10 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 11000 block of Westport Drive for the report of a stabbing. They found the Ipaye inside the home suffering from multiple stab wounds. He died a short time later at a nearby hospital.
Following a preliminary investigation, police learned that the stabbing took place at a group home, where Ipaye was a caretaker and the suspect was a resident. The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.

PCPD charged David Strickland Jr., 36, of the 11000 block of Westport Drive, with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
