Here's How to Get to MGM National Harbor on Opening Night

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — Wondering how to get to the MGM National Habor casino and resort for its grand opening Dec. 8? MGM has just issued some guidance on how to get to what is sure to be a jam-packed event.

It will be a late start at MGM National Harbor, as the resort won't open until 11 p.m. that night, with the parking garage opening at 10:30 p.m.

“We are excited to welcome our first guests to the resort December 8 and want to ensure everyone has a smooth, fun experience,” said Bill Boasberg, general manager of MGM National Harbor, in a statement. “We encourage guests to plan their transportation method and route ahead of time and be aware that the parking garage won’t open until 10:30 p.m. that evening.”

MGM is urging people to consider using ride share services like Uber, Lyft and taxis.

The closest Metro stations are Southern Avenue on the Green Line and King Street on the Yellow line, although neither are within walking distance of National Harbor.

If you must drive, MGM National Harbor offers self-parking at the garage, which is located at 101 MGM National Avenue. There is also valet service at the resort.

Parking rates are $25 for up to 12 hours and $45 for up to 24 hours.

The $1.4 billion casino and resort will feature acts such as Bruno Mars, Cher, Lionel Richie and Sting in the coming months.
