First Responders Battle Local Athletes In Hoops Up, Crime Down Basketball Tourney Friday

First responders will battle it on the basketball court against local athletes Friday starting at 6 p.m. in the Hoops Up, Crime Down tourney

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD β€” On Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation will host the inaugural Hoops Up, Crime Down basketball tournament featuring county first responders facing off against local athletes.

Taking place at the Southern Area Aquatics and Recreation Complex in Brandywine, the event also will include a live performance by the DC Vybe band, food, drinks, a DJ and giveaways.

β€œAs we move into warmer months, we realize the importance of providing teenagers and young adults with safe and enjoyable events and activities,” Sydney Harrison, vice-chair of the Prince George’s County Council, said. β€œThe Council District 9 team appreciates the great partners who are coming together to make this event a reality. We encourage the entire community to come out and enjoy.”
