The University of Maryland overcame some cold shooting to beat Valparaiso 65-62 Friday in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Next up for Maryland is No. 5 West Virginia, which downed No. 12 Buffalo 68-62 earlier in the day. The Terps play the Mountaineers on Sunday; a game time and TV network to air the next round matchup have yet to be announced.
