Identities Released of Victims in DC Car Crash

Two Prince George's County residents died Saturday after a crash involving a Washington, D.C., public works dump truck.

Authorities have released the identities of two Prince George’s County residents who died Saturday morning when their car was involved in a crash with a Washington, D.C., Department of Public Works dump truck.

The crash along DC Route 295 near Pennsylvania Avenue tied up traffic for hours. The 2009 Mitsubishi in which the two victims were riding also struck a light pole; the impact was so strong that the car was nearly cut in two, reports NBC Washington.

The two people killed have been identified as Edmond Crawford, 23, and Ltonya Brown, 29, both of Oxon Hill.

The rear passenger in the Mitsubishi was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, reports WUSA TV.

The driver and two passengers in the dump truck were all taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
