Judge Throws Out Redistricting Map Proposed For Prince George's County

A judge has thrown out a proposed redistricting map, noting that isn't law.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A Prince George's County judge has thrown out the controversial redistricting map that opponents have publicly called "blatant gerrymandering."

Council member Derrick Davis presented an entirely different redistricting map after a commission proposed minor changes to council districts that reflect growth and population. Davis' map moves large cities like Greenbelt, College Park and Adelphia into other districts. That also meant that candidates were pulled out of their districts.

A judge ruled Monday in response to a lawsuit filed last week that the council's changes weren't law and instructed the county to uphold the commission's original map.
