Juneteenth Celebration Runs June 17-19 In Prince George's County
A Juneteenth celebration planned for June 17-19 will be held in Bowie with live music, readings, bike ride, movie night and more.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD β The city of Bowie will host a movie night under the stars to kick off a weekend-long Juneteenth Celebration starting June 17 at dusk, or around 9 p.m. The movie Hidden Figures will be shown at Allen Pond so bring food, a blanket or chairs to enjoy the movie and come early for a game of trivia.
The Coalition of African Americans in the Performing Arts will present The Road to Jubilee!: A Juneteenth Celebration at the amphitheater at Allen Pond Park Saturday starting at 2 p.m. This musical extravaganza will feature singers, an African drummer, pianist, dancer and narrator that weaves history and hope. Hear poetry from local artists, too. This event is open to all ages; feel free to bring a blanket, chairs and food, organizers recommend. There will be a raffle for giveaways, also.
Wake up June 19 and meet at Centennial Park next to city hall for a sunrise walk and workout at 7 a.m. At 9 a.m. the Capital Region Cycling Network will host a Juneteenth/Fatherβs Day bike event featuring a 20- or 45-mile bike ride for skilled riders starting at Allen Pond.

Also Sunday at noon, the Bowie Police Department invites fathers and families to join them in a Father's Day celebration.There will be food, vendors, entertainment, games, music and a tribute to dads. This event will take place at Allen Pond Park until 6 p.m.
Sunday at 7 p.m., enjoy the reggae sounds of Proverbs Band as they kick off Bowie's Summer Concert Series at Allen Pond Park with a Juneteenth celebration. Enjoy food, marketplace vendors and music at the Robert V. Setera Amphitheater at Allen Pond Park.
