Juveniles Charged in Playground Fire Seen Across Metro

Two juveniles have been charged in connection with a Thursday fire that had Twitter users from Prince George’s County to Reagan National Airport asking: What’s that smoke in the sky?

Mark Brady, public information officer for the Prince George’s County Fire Department, said on Twitter that the smoke was from a playground fire in the 1400 block of Southern Avenue in Oxon Hill.

Fire investigators determined two juveniles set the playground equipment on fire, causing an estimated $40,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.
