Key Dates For 2026-2027 School Year At Prince George's Co. Public Schools
As summer winds down and kids get ready to head back to school, here are dates Prince George's parents should know for the new school year.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Backpacks are being bought and school supplies gathered up as families start preparing to send their students back to school.
The first day of class for all students will be Aug. 25.
There are a host of other important dates parents and guardians should make note of for the 2026-2027 school year. Patch has compiled them below.

Important Dates For PGCPS Students
- Aug. 24 - student orientation day
- Aug. 25 - first day of school for all students
- Sept. 7 - schools and offices closed
- Sept 16 - schools closed for students for teacher professional development
- Sept. 21 - schools and offices closed
- Oct. 2 - early dismissal for students for teacher professional development half-day
- Oct. 16 - schools closed for students for teacher professional development
- Oct. 30 - end of first quarter
- Oct. 30 - early dismissal for students
- Nov. 3 - schools and offices closed
- Nov. 11 - schools closed for students due to parent-teacher conferences
- Nov. 25 through Nov. 27 - schools and offices closed
- Dec. 11 - early dismissal for students for teacher professional development half-day
- Dec. 21 - 31 schools and offices closed
- Jan. 1 - schools and offices closed
- Jan. 18 - schools and offices closed
- Jan. 22 - end of second quarter

- June 16-17 are potential inclement weather make-up days if needed
