Lane Closures Expected This Week On Southbound Woodrow Wilson Bridge

Drivers should be aware that lane closures are being planned Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings into the early morning hours.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Maryland Department of Transportation will complete a project during the next three nights this week to restripe lines and improve lane visibility on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (I-95/I-495/Capital Beltway) in Oxon Hill. The weather prevented crews from completing the work last week.

Crews will work overnights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Tuesday to the morning of Friday this week, weather permitting, to remove and replace existing pavement striping. To allow crews to safely complete the work, crews will close, on an alternating basis, the left and right lanes of the southbound local lanes on I-95/I-495 on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

Maryland’s Move Over Law requires motorists to make a lane change or slow down when approaching any stopped, standing or parked vehicle displaying hazard warning lights, road flares or other caution signals. The expanded law is in place to protect emergency responders and motorists who encounter a roadside emergency.
