Laurel Man Arrested In Shooting Death Of Acquaintance: Prince George's Police

A Laurel man has been arrested in the late August shooting death of a man he knew, Prince George's Police say.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 29-year-old Laurel man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that happened in Lewisdale last month. Rudis Alfaro has been charged with shooting and killing 30-year-old Irvin Paredes of the Langley Park area.

On Aug. 24 at approximately 9:15 p.m., patrol officers were called to the 2300 block of University Boulevard for a shooting. The officers found Paredes in a parking lot with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed Alfaro and Paredes knew each other and the suspect shot the victim during a dispute, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.

Alfaro has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and additional charges.
