Laurel Man Killed In Fatal Hit-And-Run Involving 2 Vehicles

LAUREL, MD — Detectives are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened early Sunday morning.

The pedestrian involved in the crash has been identified as 52-year-old Ernesto Chocoj Caal of Laurel.

Around 4:15 a.m. Sunday, Prince George's police officers were called to the area of Laurel Bowie Road and Briarwood Drive where they found Chocoj Caal in the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was hit by two vehicles in the southbound lanes of Laurel Bowie Road. Both drivers fled the scene, Prince George's Police said.

"As always, investigators are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dash camera or home surveillance footage that may have captured the incident to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department. Even if you believe your footage may not be significant, it could provide valuable information to assist investigators," the police department stated.
