Leaders Argue Against Proposed Redistricting Map For Prince George's County

A recently unveiled potential district map has caused an uproar about Prince George's County leaders and residents.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A recently held public forum designed to denounce attempts by Councilman Derrick Leon Davis from approving a controversial new district map threw people for a loop. The proposed district map would result in "gerrymandering," some say.

But Davis instead introduced a surprisingly different map at the public forum that would change voting choices for residents in this area that leans strongly Democratic. A non-partisan redistricting commission originally had suggested small changes to council district lines that reflected population changes recorded in the 2020 census, which has led to these proposed changes.
