Man Bites Police Officer During Arrest For Domestic Violence

A Hyattsville police officer arresting a man wanted in a domestic violence case was bitten by the suspect.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — A police officer was bitten by a suspect in a domestic violence case while the officer was trying to arrest the man, authorities said.

The incident happened Dec. 3 around 10:26 p.m. as Hyattsville police officers were called to the 3400 block of East-West Highway and a man involved in the case ran from an apartment. A police officer found the man in Heurich Park and when authorities tried to take him into custody, he resisted and began fighting with the officers, police said.

The man bit a police officer, who then used his Taser on the suspect. Despite continued struggles with police, the man was placed in a patrol vehicle. Police said the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment, then to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro.
