Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Taxi Driver Shooting
Prince George's County Police say a cabbie was shot when he asked a Hyattsville man to pay his fare on July 4.

A man is in jail on an attempted murder charge after he allegedly shot a taxi driver July 4 who had asked to be paid for his fare.
Prince George’s County Police have arrested Diotraye Lee Diggs, 24, of the 4000 block of Warner Avenue in Hyattsville. He is charged with attempted second-degree murder and other related charges.
The shooting was reported about 11:45 p.m. in the 5500 block of Hil Mar Drive in District Heights. When police arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital for what authorities describe as non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the cabbie picked up Diggs, a woman and a young child from the Suitland Metro Station. When they arrived at their destination on Hil Mar Drive, the taxi driver asked for payment, at which point Diggs allegedly shot the victim.
Officers quickly found Diggs and the woman nearby. She is not currently facing any charges, police say. The child was not hurt.

Diggs is in jail on a $350,000 bond.
