40-Year-Old Brandywine Man Charged In Connection To His Uncle's Fatal Shooting: Police

A 40-year-old Brandywine man has been charged in connection to his uncle's fatal shooting, police say. He was found with the help of a K9.

BRANDYWINE, MD — A 40-year-old Brandywine man has been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of his uncle.

On Feb. 3 around 2:15 a.m., Prince George's police officers were called to a home in the 13900 block of Old Indian Head Road for a report of a shooting. Officers found 69-year-old George Savoy in the home with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers and a K9 section officer were able to find the suspect, the victim's nephew 40-year-old James Savoy, nearby and took him into custody several hours after the shooting, according to police.

A preliminary investigation indicates the suspect shot his uncle during a dispute. James Savoy has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges.
