Man Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Mother's Boyfriend: Prince George's Police

A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of his mom's 38-year-old boyfriend, police report.

ACCOKEEK, MD — A man has been arrested and charged in connection to the murder of his mother's boyfriend.

On Aug. 8 around 12 a.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the 16000 block of Caribbean Way for the report of a shooting. Police officers found 38-year-old Gene Garrett Jr. of Accokeek inside the home with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect, 24-year-old Clarence Green Jr. of Accokeek, shot Garrett Jr. as a result of an ongoing dispute. Green and Garrett lived together, too, police said. Green was taken into custody on the scene without incident. He has been charged with first-degree murder, assault and additional related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.
