The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner recently ruled Venable's death a homicide, according to police.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the men were arguing when Graham assaulted Venable and struck him several times, causing him to lose consciousness.

Initially, the PGPD's domestic violence unit charged Graham with assault and other offenses. He remains in custody at the Department of Corrections. Homicide detectives took over the case after Venable died. Graham was indicted on June 2 for common law murder and related offenses. He's being held on a no-bond status.
