Man Convicted Of Sexually Abusing 11-Year-Old
A Prince George's man has been convicted of sexually abusing an 11-year-old, while another man has been convicted in an armed robbery.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — One man faces prison time after being convicted of sexually abusing an 11-year-old child, while a second man has been convicted in an armed robbery following an online sale on Facebook Marketplace.
Kevin Smith has been convicted of one count of sexual abuse of a minor and four counts of sex offense in the third-degree for sexually abusing an 11-year-old child that was in his care.
"Smith exploited a position of trust within the victim’s family and repeatedly abused the child while serving as a caretaker," explained Tara Jackson, Prince George's County State's Attorney.

Smith's sentencing has been scheduled for Aug. 28.
Davon Wider has been convicted of four counts of armed robbery, four counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, four counts of illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person under the age of 21, one count of carrying a handgun and two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

"Wider used Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp to arrange fake jewelry purchases before luring victims to the Peppermill Community Center and robbing them at gunpoint," Jackson explained.
Sentencing for Jackson has been scheduled for August.
