Man Critically Injures Woman, Fatally Shoots Himself

A man from South Carolina shot a woman in Upper Marlboro, critically injuring her, then drove back to his home state and killed himself.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — A woman was critically injured in a shooting Tuesday morning and the man who police say shot her was found dead in his home state of South Carolina.

The suspect and victim had been in a relationship, according to police.

Prince George's County police officers were called to the 10400 block of Birdie Lane in Upper Marlboro around 7:15 a.m. June 2 for a report of a shooting. They found a woman with gunshot wounds. She remains hospitalized in critical condition, police reported.

PGPD detectives obtained a warrant for the suspect, 30-year-old Dante Morris of Fort Mill, South Carolina. They learned that after the shooting, Morris drove back home and was found dead Tuesday night in South Carolina.
