Man Fires 9 Shots at a Metrobus in PG County: WMATA

Metro Transit Police are looking for a man who fired at the bus after getting off of it. Fortunately, no one was injured.

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD — Police are searching for a man who got off a Metrobus he was riding in District Heights, pulled a gun out, and then fired nine times at the bus before the bus sped off.

Police say the incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday night in the area of Regency Lane and Regency Parkway.

"A male subject exited the bus and then fired multiple times at the rear of the vehicle," according to a report from WMATA. "A total of nine bullets struck the bus; however, none penetrated the passenger compartment, and there were no injuries to any of the ten passengers or the bus operator."

The bus driver was able to get the bus to a safe location at Suitland Metrorail Station. The suspect fled the scene. There is no known motive in the shooting yet, WMATA says.
