Man Found Lying In The Road In Capitol Heights Dies: Police

Homicide detectives have now taken over the case and are offering a $25,000 reward.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD — A man has died after police found him lying in the road in Capitol Heights suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police were called to the 1400 block of Pine Grove Road at around 11:30 a.m. on July 29 for a welfare check, and found 29-year-old Kevin Hawkins of Landover lying on the side of the roadway with a gunshot wound, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but eventually died from his injuries on Thursday.

As a result, homicide detectives have taken over the investigation, and police are offering $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
