Man Killed Wife, Son During Barricade Situation In PG County: Police

FORT WASHINGTON, MD — A Prince George's County man is facing murder charges after police said he killed his wife and son during a standoff with police at his Fort Washington home.
Michael Kevin Burch, 62, is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and other charges in connection with the deaths of his wife, 52-year-old Rori Burch, and his son, 25-year-old Michael Burch Jr.
Burch is also accused of shooting another unidentified man, who police said suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Tall Timber Court around 5:45 p.m. Thursday for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, police said Burch refused to exit the home, prompting a barricade and standoff with police.
Police attempted to negotiate with Burch for several hours, but were unsuccessful, authorities said.

Around 10:45 p.m., officers entered the home and took Burch into custody, police said. Officers found Rori Burch's body in the home's yard, while Michael Burch Jr.'s body was found dead inside the house, police said.
Police said the motive behind the killings was unclear.
