Man Rescued From Burning Car In Bowie Crash
A Maryland state trooper likely saved the life of a man trapped in following a Bowie crash; he was rescued before the SUV caught fire.

BOWIE, MD – A Maryland state trooper likely saved the life of a man by freeing him from his sport utility vehicle right before it burst into flames Wednesday afternoon in Bowie, authorities say.
Shortly after 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Trooper Warren Thompson, who is assigned to the Forestville Barrack, came across an SUV that had crashed on Maryland Route 214 and Church Road in Bowie. According to a preliminary investigation, the 66-year-old driver suffered a medical emergency when he hit a guardrail.
The crash impact caused the vehicle’s engine to catch fire, state police say. Thompson pulled the crash victim from the vehicle right before it erupted into flames. Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department extinguished the fire and took the victim to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center for treatment.
