Oxon Hill Man Shoots Relative, Kidnaps Girl In Family Dispute: Prince George's Police

A 62-year-old Oxon Hill man shot his relative then kidnapped a young girl from the crime scene, according to Prince George's Police.

OXON HILL, MD — A 62-year-old Oxon Hill man has been charged in connection to a shooting that happened Feb. 15 where he also kidnapped a girl from the scene of the shooting.

Around 9 p.m. Feb. 15, Prince George's police officers were called to the 7400 block of Livingston Road for a shooting outside of a business. Officers found a man with critical injuries who is related the suspected shooter, Wayne Summers of Oxon Hill. After Summers shot his relative, according to police, he abducted a girl from the scene, who also is a relative of the shooter.

Summers' vehicle was found around 11:30 p.m. that same night with the help of a police chopper and the Metropolitan Police Department. MPD officers stopped the vehicle and took Summers into custody in the 2600 block of South Capitol Street. Police say Summers dropped the girl off at another family member's home in Washington, D.C. They found the child unharmed.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute. Summers has been charged in connection to the shooting as well as with kidnapping the girl. Anyone with information about this case can call a detective at 301-749-5064.
