Man Shot To Death Near Vacant House In Capitol Heights: Police

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD -- Police say a Silver Spring man was shot to death in Capitol Heights near a vacant house on Wednesday.

Police were called to the 1300 block of Oates Street at around 4:20 p.m. on Feb. 14 for a welfare check, and found 37-year-old Joseph Maurice Ward suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

"He was located outside near a vacant house and was pronounced dead on the scene," the report states. "Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive in this case."

Police are offering $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
