Maryland, Navy Make College Football All-Time Rankings List

Two Maryland universities were ranked among college football's top 100 all-time teams by the Associated Press.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Two Maryland universities have landed spots in the first Associated Press list of all-time best football programs, which gave the Ohio State Buckeyes the No. 1 spot.

The AP used the following formula to determine the top 25 teams:

  • poll appearances (one point) to mark consistency,
  • No. 1 rankings (two points) to acknowledge elite programs
  • and gave a bonus for AP championships (10 points)

The University of Maryland Terrapins were ranked at No. 40 on the AP list, while the U.S. Naval Academy placed at No. 60.
