Prince George's Health Officials Recommend Masks Worn In Indoor Public Places

Prince George's County health officials are recommending residents age 2 and older wear masks in indoor public places.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — COVID-19 cases have been steadily on the rise in Prince George's County and the state during the past six weeks, which health officials attribute to the omicron variant.

Because of this upward trend, the Prince George's County Health Department on Thursday recommended residents age two and older wear masks in indoor public places voluntarily. County officials hope to avoid jumping into the CDC's "medium" COVID-19 community level.

Masks are still required in congregate health care settings, county public schools and libraries, and in any business or organization that chooses to require them.

"Residents five and older should get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible if they are not already, and those 12 and older should get a booster dose (if you are 50 or older you can get a second booster dose)," the county stated.
