Why are you running for office?
I'm seeking public office because I have a strong belief in the potential for positive change within our community. My dedication to improving the lives of the people I hope to represent runs deep. With a fervor for social justice, equality, and community progress, I am motivated to tackle the pressing issues our community confronts.

I am convinced that through active engagement with our citizens' concerns, fostering transparent and open communication, and collaborating effectively, we can forge a brighter future for all. My extensive background, life experiences and unwavering commitment have equipped me to advocate for policies that advance education, sustainable economic growth, and environmental preservation. By championing these causes, we can elevate the quality of life for every resident and fortify our community. I'm not just seeking public office; I'm striving to be a voice for our community.

What is the single most pressing issue facing voters?
I intend to facilitate an open and informed dialogue centered around the development of Bowie. My approach involves engaging with various key stakeholders, including community members, city staff, developers and local public officials, to collaboratively shape a well-defined vision for the city.

I am committed to actively involving all community members, seeking their valuable input, and addressing their concerns related to development projects. My priorities include the protection and enhancement of parks and natural reserves within our community. I will also strongly advocate for the creation of new green spaces and community gardens to support environmental sustainability and enhance the overall well-being of our residents.

Furthermore, I aim to encourage developers to incorporate mixed-use spaces into their projects, which will contribute to the creation of lively and walkable neighborhoods. Working closely with community stakeholders and developers, I will ensure that their projects align harmoniously with the community's vision and values, ultimately enhancing the local character rather than diminishing it.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidate seeking this post?
With over 25 years of extensive experience in public service, encompassing a decade as a College Park Councilmember, I possess a profound comprehension of the intricate challenges confronting our community. My comprehensive knowledge extends to the intricate nuances of parliamentary procedures and the pivotal responsibilities associated with the role of a councilmember, which are paramount for facilitating a seamlessly operating and highly efficient council.

My vision for our community revolves around the central tenets of sustainable and intelligent development, as well as a robust focus on education, both of which I regard as indispensable pillars for our continued progress. I am unwavering in my dedication to cultivating an open and all-encompassing environment where community members are actively and meaningfully involved in the decision-making processes. Rest assured; I am committed to upholding utmost transparency throughout the decision-making procedures.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform. What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I believe that serving on the City Council provides a platform to address important issues and make a tangible impact on the lives of residents. While many may articulate their support merely in words and reap the benefits of others' efforts, I, on the other hand, choose to immerse myself in this endeavor.

In my capacity as the chairman of the board for College Park Academy Public Charter, encompassing grades 6 through 12, I have harbored a profound dedication to the empowerment of students and the upliftment of educators. This commitment extends from the initial conceptualization of the institution to its eventual evolution into a highly proficient college preparatory high school, now ranking second in the county. This accomplishment was achieved through the cultivation of partnerships aimed at augmenting resources and fortifying student support.

By convening educators, parents, and community stakeholders, we cultivated a nurturing network that not only amplifies educational outcomes but also enriches the holistic educational voyage. It is imperative that we work collaboratively with the School Board to elevate STEAM Education, thereby furnishing our students with the quintessential skills imperative for the employment landscape of the future. Our focal point is on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education.

What is the best advise ever shared with me was:
One of the most valuable pieces of advice for anyone running for political office is to stay authentic and true to yourself. It's crucial to maintain your integrity and remain genuine throughout the campaign. Voters appreciate candidates who are sincere, transparent and passionate about the issues they are advocating for. Be genuine, listen to your constituents, stay consistent, stay positive, build relationships and be open to learning.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I will work at that an effective legislator with the belief that representation matters. It's about ensuring that every voice is heard, valued and uplifted. We know that a united community is a stronger community and by working together, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve remarkable results. I commit to working hard to bring all stakeholders together to build collective accomplishments to make a positive difference in Bowie. While many may articulate their desires merely in words and reap the benefits of others' efforts, I, on the other hand, choose to immerse myself in the endeavor.

Public Safety

With a solid commitment to fostering a secure environment within the district and surrounding areas, I will work closely with our local public safety officials to develop proposals that focus on proactive measures, Community partnerships, and innovative strategies to address public safety concerns throughout District 4.

Smart Economic Development

I will look to find innovative ways to support the city's economic development plans aimed at driving growth, attracting investments and fostering innovation within our district. Keys to economic vitality in our community are: smart strategies, business-friendly policies, and collaboration to create a thriving and sustainable economy in District 4.

Support Strong K-12 Schools

As City Council member representing this district, I am excited to continue my work toward empowering students and enhancing academic excellence within our community. With a deep commitment to education, I believe we can work with Prince George's Public Schools to foster a thriving educational environment that supports both students and educators.
